ABOUT
The Kenneth E. Senior Aerospace Scholarship Foundation was created in January of 2008 in loving memory of Kenneth E. Senior, founder of Alken Industries, Inc. of Ronkonkoma, New York.
As an entrepreneur in the aerospace manufacturing industry Kenneth Senior created Alken Industries, a World Class Aerospace Manufacturing Facility.
Ken was born April 27, 1943 in Floral Park, NY, he was the son of Edwin and Dorothy Senior. He attended City College to study engineering. At the young age of 24, he worked on the U.S. Government's Lunar Landing Module program that resulted in the landing of a man on the moon in 1969. At the age of 25 he had the methods, vision and passion that led him to start his own Aerospace Manufacturing Company, Alken Industries, in 1967. Ken's leadership and management skills brought Alken national recognition. His consistent commitment to quality allowed his company to flourish into an internatonally recognized precision aerospace manufacturer and defense contractor. In recognition of his contribution to the Defense industry,
he attended the Inaugural Ball in Washington DC in 1985
and shook the hands of President Ronald Reagan and
then Vice President George H.W. Bush.
Kenneth E. Senior has left an indelible mark on the
Aerospace Industry of Long Island. As an employer, Ken
touched the lives and hearts of many. He provided
opportunities and education which inspired people to
exceed their personal expectations and realize their full
potential. Alken Industries still employs over 70 people on Long Island.
Kenneth Senior had a strong belief in the future of the
Aerospace Industry thriving on Long Island where it has
been historically prevalent. Ken’s own determination and
drive made his a “dream come true”. In his honor this
foundation was created to further Aerospace Technology
Education on Long Island and give local, determined
students the same opportunity to soar....
